Career Summary
Mr. Zeese has worked in drug issues for the last 18 years. He has worked
with legislators at the federal, state and local level as well as with
community-based organizations seeking to put in place policies dominated by
public health, medical and social service models. He is recognized as an
expert on a wide variety of drug-related issues including harm reduction,
medical use of illicit drugs, decriminalization, law enforcement tactics,
constitutional law, international issues, drug trafficking, employment
matters and human rights concerns. He has testified in state and federal
courts as an expert on various drug law issues. He has also testified
before Congress and spoken to international bodies, city advisory
committees, professional trade associations and community organizations.
His work has included coordinating several dozen drug policy conferences
and forums, publishing numerous books, manuals, newsletters, writing a
section of an encyclopedia, numerous articles for newspapers and academic
journals producing television shows, working with the media and litigating
drug policy issues in state and federal courts. He has served as an expert
consultant to television shows including Walter Cronkite's "The Drug
Dilemma: War or Peace," (Discovery, 1995). Mr. Zeese has been a
spokesperson on drug issues on every television network.
